The Godot Engine has created its own nonprofit organisation to ensure its own financial stability. In the past, theyve worked together with the Software Freedom Conservancy to serve as monetary sponsors. According to Phoronix, the Godot engine team and Software Freedom Conservancy have reached an agreement to spin off the open-source game engine into a separate organisation.
True, its concerning that certain businesses arent making progress in that direction. Ultimately, I believe this to be the greatest option. All of our resources are open to the members of this wonderful community.
When it comes to the open-source community, I dont think its a good idea to divide it up like this. I mean, really, its just another method to make some cash, right?
I applaud their initiative, but Im not convinced this is the best way to go about it. Theyre both run by unpaid individuals, after all. Im curious as to your thoughts.
