Iām generally against the idea of horror films because I donāt like being scared. That said do I scare easily? On a scale of 1-5 I suppose if I had to sit down and be truthful Iām probably about at maybe a 3. There are horror films Iām perfectly fine with and can tolerate but itās so hard to know what you can work with vs what you canāt so generally I donāt watch them.
That said I do think horror has some of the most interesting synopsis of all content. I love to read about horror movies and what happens in them.
More recent watches
Till Death - Now that Iāve changed my mind on Megan Fox Iāve wanted to see her in some more action movies. I think she has the chops for it. Instead we got this but it didnāt disappoint too badly.
Nope - Not as bad for me as Us but also didnāt hit directly as Get Out or Us did. Very mildly horror. I could watch this repeatedly.
Sissy - unexpected. Good but unexpected. Proper horror film imo.
It Follows - Iād heard of this one but I never thought Iād watch it. I did and itās as good as promised
Black Phone - Short but Sweet. Read the short story too. Mostly well done.
Escape Room/Escape Room: Tournament of Champions - exactly the sort of movie I would pass up but somehow I ended up watching both of them.
Candyman/Candyman (2021) - I bit the bullet and watched the OG so I could watch the new one and this is a classic film Iāve read about a lot but never seen. Both were good. I was especially surprised at the score for the OG. really great soundtrack
Donāt Breathe - ironically I wasnāt nearly as disturbed by this movie and itās ārevelationsā as most people seem to be. Thereās a general consensus that itās disgusting that the ācharacterā gets rehabilitated in the sequel but personally I get it. Not that I am blind to how horrific āthe actā is.
From - This is a random streaming show but this is right up against my limit for horror and it might be a few steps over. As a horror tv show (EpixTV) itās very atmospheric and itās got great tension. From a narrative perspective you can tell the writers of Lost are behind it because it shares a lot of the plate-spinning that Lost had. Weāve been promised they actually know the answers this time going in and maybe they do. Doesnāt stop some of the choices these characters make from being ridiculous. Principally itās a community in nowhere that has split themselves into two groups. A strictly run āTownā and a most loose commune style āColony Houseā. Itās dumb. But itās scary.
After that my history has a bunch of horror-slash movies. like horror-slash-thriller or horror-slash-comedy. Great movies but movies I wouldnāt consider horror films like Get Duked (hilarious), Rapturepalooza (nods sure), Beyond Skyline (:sigh: ), Freaky (loved), Promising Young Woman (this movie was ROBBED at the Oscars), Slaxx (amusant), Shadow in the Cloud (disappointing), To Your Last Death (impressive).
